On Saturday the 6th of February, my colleagues and I had the opportunity to visit Rapids Camp, Sagana for our annual workplace caucus—and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience.
The camp is located along the Nairobi–Nyeri Highway, approximately 106 kilometres from Nairobi, which translates to about a 2-5hour drive. Nestled near Makutano and Thangazi Village, it sits at the border of Murang’a and Kirinyaga counties, surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery.
Adventure Activities
What stood out most at the camp were the wide range of fun activities available, whether you’re a solo adventurer or part of a team. Among the highlights was white-water rafting, an adrenaline-packed activity that requires teamwork as you paddle through the river and towards the roaring waterfalls. The rush of the water and the pounding spray made it an experience I would happily reconsider

Another thrilling activity was the zip line, which offers a bird’s-eye view of the Sagana River and the surrounding landscape. Gliding above the river gave me a unique perspective of the terrain and added an extra dose of excitement.

Thrill-Seeker’s Paradise
For the ultimate thrill-seekers, the camp also offers the famous “40-foot plunge” a daring jump into the waterfall from a height of about 12 metres. It was both terrifying and exhilarating, and without a doubt one of the most memorable moments of the adventure.

Relax and Refuel
Beyond the adventure, the camp also serves exquisite meals, allowing guests to refuel and relax after the high-adrenaline activities. The hospitality was top-notch, making our stay warm.

For anyone looking for fun, adventure, and a truly memorable outdoor experience, Sagana Rapids Camp is definitely the place to be, offering something for everyone, always.
