Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka held high-level consultative talks with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Monday, October 26.
The meeting, which brought together senior political allies—including Ukambani governors Wavinya Ndeti (Machakos), Mutula Kilonzo Jr. (Makueni), and Julius Malombe (Kitui)—focused on cementing opposition unity and structuring early strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Addressing the media following the closed-door discussions, Kalonzo affirmed that his relationship with Gachagua remains solid, dismissing reports of emerging rifts within opposition ranks.
“Since the impeachment of H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, he and I have stood together as friends and allies,” Kalonzo stated. “I have made it my personal mission to unite the opposition, and I will keep engaging all my colleagues. Liberating Kenya is bigger than any one person’s ambition.”
The visit comes amidst heightened political activity at Wamunyoro, following Gachagua’s earlier consultation with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi movement. While no formal coalition agreement or presidential candidate ticket was publicly declared, both leaders emphasized their shared commitment to establishing a unified front capable of challenging President William Ruto’s administration.
Political observers view the consultative engagement between the Eastern and Mt. Kenya political heavyweights as a strategic move to build regional convergence and strengthen bargaining power within the broader opposition structure.
