Government Announces Closure of Schools in Mombasa and Nairobi Ahead of Azimio Protests

The government through the ministry of Education and Interior has announced that all schools in Mombasa and Nairobi shall be closed as a precautionary measure to ensure children safety during the Azimio La Umoja demonstrations.

In a statement issued by the government, they received intelligent reports of armed gangs with plans and intentions to unleash mayhem and skirmishes on the security officers in the schools in those cities.

” As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of school children , it has be decided that all day primary and secondary schools in Mombasa and Nairobi cities shall remain closed tomorrow ” red part of the statement.

The administration however, asked the Kenyans to go about their daily business as usual and stated that they would announce the dates for the reopening of the schools after assessing the security situation in the course of Wednesday.

Azimio La Umoja have vowed to conduct the demonstrations as planned as Interior Cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki warn that any found breaking the law will be dealt decisively in accordance with the law.
