Azimio Senators At War With Speaker Kingi Over Control Of The House

Senators from the opposition are furious with speaker Amason Kingi because, in spite of a court ruling, he refused to remove the Azimio leadership.

On Wednesday, Kingi declined to announce the modifications, claiming that he had not yet received the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal’s order dismissing the Isiolo senator Fatuma Dullo’s lawsuit. In the order, the Tribunal declared that it lacked the authority to hear Dullo’s appeal of being fired from her position as deputy minority whip.

Azimio made the adjustments, appointing Dullo’s deputy, Narok senator Ledama Olekina, in place of Dullo. Edwin Sifuna, a senator from Nairobi, is about to take over as deputy minority whip.

“I am unaware of where I am sitting. I don’t watch news on TV or read newspaper articles from where I sit “explained Kingi.

Since the speaker’s office has not yet received the Tribunal’s ruling, it is unable to inform the public of the modifications.

The speaker spoke after senators from Nairobi, Edwin Sifuna, and Azimio, led by minority leader Stewart Madzayo, asked him to make adjustments based on the tribunal’s ruling. Sifuna questioned why, despite being a party to the case, the speaker had not received notice of the Tribunal’s ruling.

Nyamira The judgment was filed by senator Okong’o Omogeni, who claimed that the speaker was forced to make the announcements.
