Kabando To Raila: Ruto Cannot Open IEBC Servers

President Ruto cannot implement the request made by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the opening of the IEBC servers, according to former Mukurwe-Ini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando.

Using his Twitter account, the former MP claimed that such requests were impractical because President Ruto is not constitutionally authorized to open the IEBC servers. President Ruto is correct, while Odinga is mistaken. The opening of IEBC servers is not a president’s official business nor his or her legal obligation, according to Kabando.

He asserted that the Supreme Court, which had already rendered a legally binding judgement on the Presidential election issue, was the only body that could carry out Raila’s request to have the servers made publicly accessible.

“We gave the Supreme Court jurisdiction over these issues. compelled once it declares itself. Our preferred course is constitutionalism, he declared.

Raila Odinga urged in February that the IEBC server be made accessible so that an audit could be performed.

President William Ruto responded to Raila Odinga’s demand on the opening of the IEBC server on Thursday during the re-launch of the Women Enterprise Fund and Second Product of the Entrepreneurship Fund at KICC by stating his job as the president is to fulfill his campaign promises to Kenyans.

He questioned, “Where in the Constitution does it indicate that it is the President’s duty to go and open servers?
