KHRC Questions DPP Noordin Hajj’s Latest Tendency Of Withdrawing Top Graft Cases

The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) has expressed their concern on the recent tendency by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Hajj of withdrawals of graft cases against politicians.KHRC has demanded for deeper insights on the matter.

KHRC’s concerns came through their social media on Wednesday afternoon after the DPP announced he had dropped a Ksh.19 million graft case against Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary appointee Aisha Jumwa.

“Although the government has touted its commitment to tackling corruption, we are baffled by the spate of coordinated withdrawals of high-value graft cases by @ODPP_KE. The @ODPP_KE and DPP Haji owe Kenyans an explanation over the sudden surge in withdrawal of graft cases.”Read the Commission’s post on twitter.

Haji recently made a move where he made an application to withdraw a Ksh 80 million graft case against former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal, who has been shortlisted for the position of Principal Secretary and the DPP is also seeking approval to drop another Ksh.400 million graft case against former Kenya Power Managing Director Ben Chumo.
