Nairobi – Vivo Energy Kenya has issued an official statement addressing concerns raised in a viral social media video questioning the quality of Shell V-Power fuel at select Shell service stations. The video, titled “Testing Petrol Quality in Kenya”, has sparked widespread discussion among motorists and fuel consumers in the country.

In response, Vivo Energy Kenya, the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell products in Kenya, reassured the public that all fuel imports meet strict quality standards. According to the company, Shell V-Power, categorized under Research Octane Number (RON) 95, and Unleaded fuel (RON 93) undergo rigorous certification at the source before entering the Kenyan market. Additionally, upon arrival in the country, the fuel is subjected to further stringent testing to ensure compliance with set regulations.

“At Vivo Energy Kenya, we have stringent quality control measures in place at our depots to ensure that all fuels meet the required standards before being distributed through our nationwide Shell service station network,” the statement read.

The company also emphasized that it takes such claims seriously and has launched a comprehensive investigation, including independent laboratory testing, to verify the allegations. Vivo Energy Kenya assured customers that it would provide further updates once the review is complete.

The viral video has sparked debates on fuel quality and regulation in Kenya, with consumers calling for greater transparency in the petroleum industry. Vivo Energy Kenya’s prompt response aims to reassure customers of the brand’s commitment to maintaining high fuel standards.

As investigations continue, Kenyan motorists are keenly awaiting the findings of the independent testing to determine whether the concerns raised in the social media video hold merit.
