Vihiga senior Godfrey Osotsi Attack, Airlifted to Nairobi for Treatment

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi was on Wednesday seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked by a group of rowdy youth in Kisumu while getting a haircut, according to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The incident is reported to have occurred in the Acacia area of Kisumu, where the senator had made a routine stop before proceeding to a nearby restaurant for another engagement.Witnesses say a group of youths confronted and assaulted him, leaving him with injuries that required urgent medical attention.

Following the attack, Osotsi was first rushed to a local hospital in Kisumu for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, doctors later recommended that he be airlifted to Nairobi for specialised medical care. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in the capital.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna confirmed the incident and condemned the assault, calling for swift action from security agencies to identify and arrest those behind the attack. The incident has sparked concern among political leaders and members of the public, with many demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the violence.

The attack comes at a time of heightened political tension within ODM and its allied factions, where Osotsi has recently been a key figure in ongoing political activities. Leaders allied to him have urged calm as they await updates on his condition.
