The National Police Service (NPS) is appealing to the public for assistance in investigating the tragic killing of Police Constable Benard Ithai, who was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in Thika’s Cravers area.
Constable Ithai, who was on duty at the time, sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, medical efforts to save his life were unsuccessful, and he succumbed to his injuries.
In a statement, Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga urged Kenyans with any information about the incident to report to their nearest police station or contact the NPS directly. The appeal emphasizes the importance of public cooperation in bringing the culprits to justice and ensuring the safety of communities.
“We strongly encourage anyone with details, no matter how small, to step forward. Justice for Constable Ithai and his family relies on the collective effort of law enforcement and the public,” said Nyaga.
The NPS has assured potential informants that their identities will be protected and that any leads will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.
The murder of Constable Ithai has drawn widespread condemnation, with residents and leaders in Thika calling for heightened security in the area to prevent similar tragedies.
This incident highlights the risks faced daily by officers in the line of duty and underscores the need for collective vigilance and cooperation to curb rising crime rates.
