Evans Kidero, the Trade Chief Administrative Secretary, has criticized the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition, stating that they lack a clear objective or endgame. In an interview on K24, Kidero mentioned that the Finance Bill was never a topic of discussion within Azimio from the start.
This statement follows Azimio’s recent decision to instruct its Members of Parliament to vote against the Finance Bill 2023. Kidero expressed his perplexity at the coalition’s focus on addressing the Finance Bill issue, as he expected them to present their own solutions during their discussions on Tuesday.
Kidero expressed disappointment, noting that while Azimio opposes the bill, they have not provided any specific numbers or strategies for dealing with the matter. He criticized the coalition for engaging in blanket criticism without offering viable solutions.
During the Azimio meeting, three main issues were discussed, with the Finance Bill 2023 being one of them. The coalition strongly rejected the bill, asserting that it regresses Kenya back to the 1980s. Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi stated their total rejection of the bill, emphasizing that they believe it does not originate from the government or any individual residing in the country.
