Senator Richard Onyonka Says Kisii Region Will Support Fred Matiang’i

Kisii senator Richard Onyonka has revealed the region will support Fred Matiangi in his presidential bid.

Fred Matiang’i seems to be in the race for the presidential election in 2027.On Sunday, jubilee secretary general Francis Kioni said that the Jubilee Party will field Matiang’i as the presidential candidate in 2027. However, nothing official has been revealed as the former interior cabinet secretary has not made a public appearance since Ruto assumed office. Last week, President Ruto revealed that he does not see a worthy competitor in his reelection bid.

Kisii senator Richard Onyonka has now revealed that the region will now support Matiang’i in his presidential bid. “As the Kisii region, we have worked with ODM for the last 20 years in supporting Raila, but now we have decided to change course. The Kisii region has settled on Matiang’i as its presidential candidate.” He said.

Other politicians have expressed interest in the presidential race, but nothing has materialised. Kalonzo Musyoka has hinted at forming a coalition with former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua this year, but nothing has been announced.
