Safaricom PLC has joined Kenyans and the Odinga family in mourning the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as a visionary leader whose impact transformed Kenya and the world.
In a statement, the Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of Safaricom extended their deepest condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, Rosemary, Raila Jnr., Winnie, and the entire Odinga family. “We extend our deepest condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, Rosemary, Raila Jnr., Winnie, the wider Odinga family, and Kenyans on the passing of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya,” the company stated.
Safaricom lauded Odinga’s lifelong commitment to democracy, justice, and national unity, noting that his leadership played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s political, social, and economic landscape. “His legacy of courage, resilience, and belief in an inclusive society will inspire generations,” the statement read.
Highlighting his contribution as Prime Minister in the 2008 Grand Coalition Government, Safaricom credited Odinga for co-launching Kenya’s Vision 2030 and promoting the integration of technology and innovation in the country’s development agenda. “His leadership created an enabling environment that allowed Safaricom and Kenya’s entire digital ecosystem to flourish,” the company added.
Safaricom concluded by celebrating Odinga’s enduring influence, expressing hope that “his legacy will continue to inspire future generations in the pursuit of a better Kenya.”
