Safaricom has come out on the limelight to address claims that the company lias with state agencies to provide customer information, maintaining that the Telco respect customers privacy and adhere strictly by the country’s data protection laws.
In a press statement dated 31st October, 2024, Safaricom revealed its commitment to protect customer details unless the company receives a court order to share customer data.

“That for information purposes, a customer’s Call Data Record (CDR) does not show any live location and movements of customers but are generated after a call is terminated and for text messages once they are sent or received and this is for purposes of billing only,” read part of the statement.

The Kenya’s leading Telco further stated its efforts to employ Neural Technologies, which started to operate in 2012 across over 30 nations, primarily launched to detect and manage fraud system for business lines.
“Neural Technologies is a global brand operating in over 30-countries providing support to telcos and utility companies to prevent and detect fraud with no third part access,” Safaricom added.
The company reassured its stakeholders to continue being honest and transparent in order to keep the trust it has build for years with its customers.
