Kenya’s President, William Ruto, has issued a firm and strongly worded condemnation following a series of strikes that have expanded tensions across the Middle East, warning that the growing regional scope of the conflict now poses a grave threat to international peace and security. In an official statement, Ruto expressed deep concern over what he described as the “regionalisation” of the crisis after several nations in the Gulf and surrounding region reported being targeted.
The affected countries include the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain. The Kenyan leader cautioned that the widening theatre of confrontation risks dragging more states into instability, potentially disrupting trade routes, energy supplies, and diplomatic relations far beyond the region.
He noted that at a time when the world is grappling with economic uncertainty, security challenges, and humanitarian pressures, further escalation could significantly undermine global stability.Ruto emphasized that conflicts of such magnitude rarely remain contained within borders, warning that unchecked hostilities could have ripple effects across continents.
He stressed that the international community cannot afford complacency, particularly given the interconnected nature of today’s geopolitical and economic systems.Calling for urgent and inclusive engagement, the President urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and recommit to dialogue.
He appealed for renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and preventing further violence, underscoring that sustainable peace can only be achieved through negotiation and mutual understanding. He further called on regional and global actors to intensify mediation efforts and prioritize peaceful resolution mechanisms over military responses.
According to Ruto, diplomacy must remain the primary instrument for resolving disputes, especially in moments when emotions and tensions are running high.Concluding his statement, the President reaffirmed Kenya’s support for international peace initiatives and reiterated the country’s commitment to multilateral cooperation in safeguarding global security.
He urged leaders across the world to act swiftly and collectively to prevent the crisis from spiraling into a broader confrontation with far-reaching consequences.
