Raila Announces His Political Stand Issuing 4 Demands to Government

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has made a comeback in the country’s politics kicking it off by issuing four straight demands to the government. Despite lately having a friendly relationship with President William Ruto, Raila did not shy off from pointing out four key issues that he accused the government of being too reluctant to completely address.

Speaking with the press on Friday, February 28, while leading ODM fraternity to celebrating 20-years since establishment, Odinga faulted Ruto’s government for poor governance, claiming the state has been dumb to stop abductions and corruption witnessed in the country.

Odinga stated that the government has not made efforts to address the abductors despite persistent calls intervention from Kenyans.

“We are also seeing people being abducted and confined for many days, others are being killed. These are very worrying developments in our country that we must bring to an end.” He said.

Moreover, Odinga revealed having received complains from members of the public concerning discrimination in the provision of state services, calling upon the government to sweep off tribalism across all sectors.

The ODM leader further hit out at the government over reluctance to resolve the health crisis prompted by the introduction of the Social Health Authority (SHA), maintaining that millions of Kenyans are still unable to access healthcare services through SHA.

“We need to be united so that we can speak with one voice, but we have seen many complaints in the healthcare sector. Many patients are suffering because of the introduction of SHA,” Raila said, calling for immediate intervention and adding, “something needs to be resolved so that people can receive proper medical attention. We have seen our doctors, nurses, lecturers, and even students lamenting, and these are problems that need solutions.”

The demands to put a full stop on abductions, corruption, tribalism as well as resolving health system as vocalized by Odinga, come barely a week after he commenced his consultative tour across the country to gather public opinion on his party’s next political move.

This week, Odinga traversed Kisumu county, Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay to meet the youth from the regions, ODM leaders and other stakeholders to consult with them concerning the move he ought to take next after failing to clinch the AUC job a few weeks ago.
