President Ruto: Government to Pay NHIF Claims within a Month

President William Ruto has announced that Social Health Authority (SHA) will pay current NHIF claims within a month, having settled KSh18.2B in undisputed claims since Oct 1, 2024.

The Head of State, stated that the government will be focusing on paying in full all hospitals contracted by NHIF with claims totaling Sh.10 million and below. However, he added that the remaining hospitals with claims of Sh.10 million and above shall be subjected to a verification process within a period of 90 days.

A statement released by the Statehouse concerning NHIF debts, signed by the President, the state has also resolved that the Cabinet Secretary for Health, will have to gazette the verification committee within a week.

He further says SHA has already paid KSh 18.2 billion in undisputed claims, and moving forward, all current claims will be settled within a month.

The government is fully committed to providing Universal Health Coverage to every Kenyan without discrimination. I would like to assure all Kenyans that any challenges being experienced in the implemention of Taifa care are being attended to and resolved,” the statement concluded.
