The government has announced the start of Phase Two of the Nyota Project’s Business Support Component, with disbursements scheduled to run from January 8 to January 16, 2026, targeting youth who successfully completed the mandatory classroom training.
In a notice shared on social media, the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy, Fikirini Jacobs, said the rollout follows the conclusion of training in 27 Phase Two counties. He noted that the exercise will focus on beneficiaries who completed the training requirement under the project.
“The NYOTA Project Business Support Component Phase Two roll out is now set to begin, targeting youth who successfully completed the training,” the notice states. According to the announcement, the disbursements will be conducted in phases across the country to allow for orderly payments and mentorship sessions.
The PS further indicated that the exercise will be officially launched with the involvement of the Head of State.
“Disbursements will take place from 8th to 16th January 2026 and will be graced by H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya,” the statement reads.
Under the published schedule, the rollout will begin in Eldoret on January 8, covering Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, Turkana and West Pokot counties. Other regions, including Nakuru, Nanyuki, Nyeri, Meru, Machakos and Nairobi, will follow on specified dates through January 16, with each location serving clusters of counties.
The notice also outlines counties earmarked for Phase Three, including parts of the Coast, Nyanza and North Eastern regions, as well as Marsabit. The government said the timetable for those counties will be communicated later.
Beneficiaries were urged to actively engage beyond the financial support.
“Beneficiaries are encouraged to take note of the disbursement dates and prepare to fully participate in the mentorship and follow-up business development support,” the PS said, adding that the aim is to help build sustainable and profitable youth-led enterprises.
