Philip Kirwa Takes Over The Mantle as New MTRH CEO,Receives A Rousing Welcome

Dr. Philip Kiptanui Kirwa, newly appointed MTRH CEO, was received by hospital staff today at the hospital’s Chandaria Grounds.

Dr. Kirwa, a renowned gynaecologist, begins his tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of the largest international public hospital in East and Central Africa, taking over from Dr. Wilson Aruasa.

In his remarks, Dr. Kirwa dedicated the appointment to the thousands of Kenyans and those from across the borders seeking healthcare services at MTRH.

Dr. Kirwa thanked the appointing authority, H.E. the President, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, and the Board for trusting in his leadership.

He added that during the national doctors’ strike, MTRH performed its mandate at over 75 percent higher than all hospitals in the country.

The CEO said the mandate on the staff of the hospital is monumental and urged them to continue scaling up this leadership.

“Let’s work hard; let’s know that all Kenyans seeking healthcare have faith in us. Every department, every directorate, has no choice but to excel in service delivery.”

“Let’s all be our brother’s keeper, sister’s keeper, and dedicate our energies to the service of the patients,” he added.

“We want to continue building the foundation already set by our predecessors in the provision of quality healthcare as we support the government’s policy of Bottom-Up Transformational Agenda (BETA).”

“From July, healthcare provision will be changed for the better through the Government’s Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) and the related new health laws.”

Dr. Kirwa, a medic with 28 years of experience in health, said through his appointment, he will deploy his skills to lift MTRH to a higher level. He spoke about the specialized services that MTRH is offering and those to be rolled out soon.

The CEO mentioned the upcoming services like the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory stationed at the hospital’s Private Wing.

Dr. Kirwa said the hospital’s staff are highly motivated and ready to receive the thousands of patients coming to MTRH from the entire East Africa.
