Ndindi Nyoro Dropped from House Budget Committee in Sweeping UDA Reshuffle

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has been removed from the influential National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee in a surprise reshuffle orchestrated by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Nyoro has now been reassigned to the less prominent Departmental Committee on Migration, with Mathioya MP Edwin Gichuki Mugo taking over his former slot.

The changes were tabled on the floor of the House by Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro, who moved a motion detailing a raft of reassignments across various committees in what appears to be a broader realignment within the ruling coalition’s parliamentary ranks.

Key Changes in House Committees Include:

  1. Departmental Committee on Blue Economy: Hon. Stanley Muiruri Muthama replaces Hon. Charity Kathambi Chepkwony, while Hon. (Dr.) Joyce Bensuda Osogo fills the vacancy left by the late Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were.
  2. Departmental Committee on Labour: Hon. Mary Wamaua Njoroge replaces Hon. Liza Chelule.
  3. Committee on Regional Development: Hon. Liza Chelule moves to replace Hon. Mary Emaase Otucho.
  4. Departmental Committee on Tourism: Hon. Leah Sankaire replaces Hon. Edwin Mugo Gichuki.
  5. Committee on Implementation: Hon. Charity Kathambi Chepkwony replaces Hon. Stanley Muiruri Muthama.
  6. Constitution Implementation and Oversight Committee: Hon. Nimrod Mbai takes over from Hon. Eric Muchangi Karemba.
  7. Public Petitions Committee: Hon. Eric Muchangi Karemba replaces Hon. Ernest Ogesi Kagesi Kibai.
  8. Departmental Committee on Trade: Hon. John Okano Bwire fills the position left by Hon. Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku.
  9. Committee on Powers and Privileges: Hon. Jane Njeri Maina replaces Hon. John Okano Bwire.
  10. Committee on National Cohesion: Hon. Anne Muratha replaces Hon. Jane Njeri Maina, while Hon. Peter Orero fills the slot previously held by the late Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were.
  11. Decentralized Funds Accounts Committee: Hon. James Onyango Oyoo replaces Hon. Joyce Bensuda Osogo.
  12. Public Accounts Committee: Hon. Mary Emaase Otucho fills the position left by Hon. Geoffrey Kariuki Ruku.

The reshuffle underscores UDA’s continued efforts to fine-tune its legislative strategy by reorganizing committee memberships for greater control and alignment with party priorities.

Political analysts see the removal of Ndindi Nyoro from the Budget Committee as particularly symbolic, given the committee’s central role in public finance oversight.
