Nairobi Police Hunt for Bar Attendant’s Killer

Authorities are currently searching for an individual who fatally struck a bar attendant with a bottle of beer in Uhuru estate, Nairobi. The victim, Patrice Lumumba, 26, was discovered lifeless in his residence, hours after being hit on the head with the bottle. Lumumba had been employed as an attendant at Smooka Bar in Uhuru Shopping Centre when a dispute arose between him and a customer over a bill of 300 Kenyan shillings on the night of June 4.

According to the police, the assailant, who is recognized in the area, grabbed a bottle of beer and assaulted Lumumba before swiftly leaving the establishment. Unaware of the severity of his injury, Lumumba requested a motorcycle taxi (bodaboda) to transport him to his nearby residence. The bodaboda rider later informed the police that he had taken Lumumba home as he complained of a headache, leaving him there.

The following day, the rider returned to check on Lumumba and discovered him deceased in his bed. The rider promptly contacted the authorities, and the body was subsequently transported to the mortuary. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are actively pursuing the suspect, Idi Madegwa, who is familiar to the local community. Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei has confirmed that they are searching for a known individual in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, the police are also looking into the murder of Richard Wakhisi, a 56-year-old man whose body was found floating in River Chwele in Bungoma County. Wakhisi’s family stated that he had received a phone call from an unidentified person on the night of June 4 before leaving his residence. The following day, Wakhisi’s body was discovered in the river, displaying deep cuts on his head and hands, presumably caused by a sharp object.

No arrests have been made thus far, and the police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrators involved in Wakhisi’s murder.
