Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has criticised the attack on Peter Salasya.
During the Harambee Stars game against Gabon yesterday at Nyayo Stadium, Peter Salasya was attacked by goons after making his way into the stadium. In what looked like hired goons, Salasya was rescued by some fans and eventually was rushed to hospital minutes later. Some users on social media accused Raila Odinga and Johnson Sakaja of hiring the goons due to Salasya’s recent remarks. Raila Odinga was in attendance at the game together with William Ruto, and the fans chanted “Ruto Must Go” throughout the game.
Musalia Mudavadi has now condemned the incident and insisted that everyone must be respected despite their political differences. “What happened to Peter Salasya at Nyayo Stadium today is unfortunate. Political intolerance undermines the very foundation of democracy, which relies on the ability to engage with differing views. We won’t always agree, and that’s okay. But respect, dialogue and unity must remain non-negotiable. Respect must be given, but it must also be earned.” He said.
