MP George Koimburi Dumped In Kiambu After Mysterious Kidnap

Kiambu County — Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has been found alive but injured after reportedly being abducted on Sunday. He was discovered dumped in a coffee plantation in Kiambu County and is currently receiving treatment at Plainsview Hospital near Ruiru town.

According to the MP’s family, Koimburi was seized by unidentified individuals outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu. His wife, Ann Koimburi, sustained injuries during the altercation. The motive behind the abduction remains unclear, although authorities have been investigating the legislator over alleged involvement in land fraud and misuse of Constituency Development Funds (CDF).

Video footage captured during the incident shows Koimburi being forced into a silver Subaru Forester with civilian license plates. The identity of the kidnappers remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied any role in the incident, although it confirmed that Koimburi has been under investigation since Friday. The DCI acknowledged he is wanted for questioning regarding suspected illegal dealings involving land and public funds.

Mrs. Koimburi voiced her frustration with the authorities, pointing out that this is not the first time her husband has faced opaque treatment during investigations. She cited previous instances where officials confiscated his phone and vehicle without offering clear explanations or disclosing his location.

This latest incident has sparked concern and speculation in Kiambu and beyond, with calls for a thorough and transparent probe into the circumstances surrounding the MP’s disappearance and injuries. Meanwhile, security agencies say efforts are ongoing to apprehend those behind the incident as the nation awaits further updates on Koimburi’s condition and legal status.
