Morocco To Invest Millions of Dollars, Set to Become Giant in Gaming Industry Across Africa and Middle East

Morocco, known to be one of the country’s globally that values gaming, is now embarking on an ambitious venture by investing $36 million, equivalent to 360 million dirham, to establish a specialized gaming zone in its capital, Rabat. This move, positions Morocco as a potential leader in the African and Middle Eastern gaming industry.

The Moroccan government’s 360 million dirham investment aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem for game development, coding, and professional training. This is part of the government’s plan to generate revenues while also making sure Moroccan citizens participating in the gaming industry, improve their living standards. Minister Mehdi Bensaid projects the initiative could generate up to 5,000 jobs and yield 5 billion dirhams in revenue by 2030

The gaming hub, part of Morocco’s 2025 Finance Bill, is designed to support local gaming startups and develop a robust tech talent pipeline. As a step forward to execute this initiative, the Moroccan government has made strategic partnership with Huawei, to enhance skill development, focusing on equipping young Moroccans with essential tech capabilities.

The gaming complex will be located within the Yaacoub Mansour municipality and will be spread over five hectares, including dedicated space for reception, offices, training rooms and technical facilities.

The project is part of Morocco’s broader strategy to diversify its economy and to take advantage of its young demographic dividend to be an emerging hub for digital entertainment and technology
