Martha Karua Responds to Uhuru’s Confrontation with Police Officers at Jubilee Headquarters

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta faced police officers on Wednesday, April 26 at the Jubilee Party offices in Nairobi, according to Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua.

Karua chastised the Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, in a statement for permitting police personnel to storm the Jubilee Party offices.

“I have seen the order from the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT), which clearly overturns the ruling by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) that purported to grant a faction power over the offices.” “It means that the status quo of Jeremiah Kioni as Secretary-General remains,” Karua explained.

“It also meant that those who weren’t happy should think about internal dispute resolution mechanisms,” she continued. Not only is it against the court’s decision, but it also violates the Constitution for me to enter the party offices and headquarters with a battalion of police officers.

The former vice presidential candidate added that the action was a battle against the Azimio coalition and an assault on multiparty democracy.

“This is a direct attack on multi-partyism and a declaration of war against the Azimio la Umoja coalition,” Karua said.

After Kanini Kega and Jeremiah Kioni’s supporters got into a fight, prompting police to step in, Uhuru went to the Jubilee offices. The party’s Secretary-General is a point of contention between the two leaders. The previous Head of State challenged the police officers, telling them that their presence was escalating the conflict between the two opposing factions.
