KUCCPS Urges Varsities to Submit Courses as it Begins 2025 Placement Preparations

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has started preparations for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) placement. The agency has asked universities and colleges to submit their courses and admission capacities ahead of next year’s student placement exercise.

In a notice dated October 6, 2025, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome directed Vice-Chancellors and Principals of University Colleges to upload their programmes through the KUCCPS online system. She said this process, known as the Declaration of Programmes and Capacities, marks the beginning of the official placement cycle for the 2025 KCSE class and other eligible candidates.

Dr. Wahome explained that only accredited programmes will be accepted during the submission. “Please note that the declared programmes must be those currently offered by your institution and duly accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE) or by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) in the case of TVET programmes,” she stated.

The agency has also written to Principals of National Polytechnics, Technical and Vocational Colleges, and Teacher Training Colleges asking them to submit their approved courses. This ensures that all eligible institutions, including the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), have their programmes listed for the 2026 placement cycle.

Dr. Wahome added that KUCCPS continues to expand opportunities for students by onboarding more institutions and new courses. She cited the example of the Kenya School of Law, whose Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) was recently included in the KUCCPS system and attracted full enrollment.

The declaration of programmes and capacities will run from October 6 to October 31, 2025. KUCCPS said the process will help ensure a smooth and transparent placement exercise once KCSE results are released early next year.
