“As we rate and classify content, we also consider other applicable laws. If there is any content that normalises, glorifies gay relationships. Our position in Kenya has always been to restrict and not to broadcast, exhibit or distribute that kind of content within our borders,” Wambua said.
The KFCB boss maintained that they are working on signing partnerships outside Kenya to have them expedited from viewers site either on VOD platform or theatres.
“Most of them are restricting; because of our discussions with Netflix, they are curating their classification system that is very aligned with our laws with the view of ensuring that in future once we sign the agreement, some of this content is not visible at all within the republic. He added.
This comes days after Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha also called for ban on all pornography websites high early teenage pregnancies and dropouts. “In as much as we enjoy the freedom of everything including the internet, the pornopgraphic sites centres must be blocked as soon as yesterday,” Magoha said.
