Kenya Reports First Casualty of the MS Mission in Haiti

A Kenyan police officer deployed to Haiti to uphold peace in the Multinational Security Mission (MSS) shot and killed during an operation against criminal gangs in Seguin, Pont-Sonde, Port-au-Prince.

This marks the first casualty for the Kenyan contingent since making the first deployment of Kenya Police Officers on June 25, 2024, as part of the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission.

The officer succumbed to severe injuries while receiving treatment at Level Two Aspen Hospital, having sustained critical gunshot wounds in the gang attack.

The El Salvador Causality Evacuation (CASEVAC) team responded swiftly, but doctors were unable to save the fallen Kenyan soldier.

Reports indicate that the killed officer was part of a team conducting operations in Artibonite, an area majorly infested by the gang. In response, the Kenyan officers have since engaged the criminals in a fierce fight reportedly killing dozens.
