The National Police Service (NPS) has received the highlights of a systems review conducted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), aimed at strengthening integrity and accountability within the Service.
On 11th September 2025, a delegation from EACC, led by the Deputy Director of Corruption Prevention, Ms. Neema Mkorori, presented the review findings to Inspector General Douglas Kanja at the NPS Headquarters, Jogoo House.
The review followed a request made on 10th February 2025, when the IG invited EACC to examine NPS systems, policies, procedures, and practices, with the goal of identifying measures to close loopholes that could allow corruption and to entrench transparency across the Service.
While receiving the report, IG Kanja expressed gratitude to EACC and other stakeholders for their input, describing the findings as both practical and timely. “The highlights were comprehensive, the issues raised resonated with the situation on the ground, and the findings and recommendations were made in good faith,” he stated.
He further assured the EACC delegation that the Service is fully committed to adopting the recommendations. “The National Police Service remains committed to implementing the proposals to promote transparency and accountability,” the IG affirmed.
The IG was accompanied by senior officers, including the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat; the Secretary of Administration and Accounting Officer for NPS, Ms. Bernice Lemedeket; the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Mr. John Onyango, SAIG; and other top officials.
