How to Apply for Kenyan Passport Online in 2025

Are you planning to go overseas in this year 2025, but stumbling on acquiring a passport? No worry, you can do it online to save your time.

Applying for a Kenyan passport online in 2025 involves the following steps:

  1. Create an e-Citizen Account

Visit the e-Citizen portal. If you don’t already have an account, create one by providing your details (ID number, email address, and phone number).

There will be a link sent to your email. Verify your account through the confirmation link sent to your email.

  1. Log in to the e-Citizen Portal

Use your credentials to log in, after successfully creating your account. Thereafter, navigate to the “Department of Immigration Services” section.

  1. Select Passport Application

Choose the appropriate passport type based on your needs (e.g., ordinary, diplomatic, or East African passport). You’ll get a set of guidelines to follow, just read the provided guidelines to understand the requirements.

  1. Fill in the Application Form

Provide accurate personal information, including:

Full name.

Date of birth.

Contact details.

Parent/guardian information.

Address and next of kin details.

Upload required documents, such as:

A scanned copy of your birth certificate.

National ID.

Copies of parents’ ID cards.

  1. Pay the Application Fee

The fee depends on the passport type:

32-page ordinary passport: Ksh. 4,550.

48-page passport: Ksh. 6,050.

64-page passport: Ksh. 7,550.

Payment can be made via mobile money (e.g., M-Pesa), debit/credit card, or bank transfer.

  1. Schedule an Appointment

Book an appointment for biometric data. This data can be captured at your nearest Huduma Centre or immigration office.

  1. Visit the Appointment Center

On the scheduled date, bring with you; printed application form and payment receipt, original documents uploaded during the application, Passport-size photos (if required) then complete biometric data capture by (fingerprints and photograph).

  1. Track Your Application

Monitor your application status through the e-Citizen portal. You will receive notifications when your passport is ready for collection.

  1. Collect Your Passport

Visit the indicated collection center with your original ID and acknowledgment slip to collect your passport.

If any changes occur in the process, the updates will be communicated on the eCitizen platform or via the Department of Immigration Services.
