Guaranty Trust Bank (Kenya) has announced a leadership transition following the expiry of its Managing Director’s tenure. The bank says the process will be gradual and operations will continue without disruption.

The Board of Directors announced that Managing Director Jubril Adeniji will step down after the completion of his tenure and his recall to Guaranty Trust Bank Limited in Nigeria.

The Board commended him for his leadership and service, noting that during his time at the bank, GTBank Kenya strengthened its shareholding and governance framework, improved the quality of its earning asset portfolio, enhanced internal controls and implemented a strategic growth plan aimed at expanding market share and building long-term sustainability.

In a statement, the Board said, “The Board extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Adeniji for his contribution, leadership and dedicated service to GTBank Kenya during his tenure.” It added that “the Bank strengthened its shareholding and governance framework, enhanced quality of its earning asset portfolio, improved internal control environment, embarked on the execution of a transformative strategic plan aimed at growing market share, and strengthened its leadership and overall workforce for its long-term sustainability.”

To ensure a smooth handover, Adeniji will remain in office for the next 90 days while the bank completes the transition process and seeks the necessary regulatory approvals for the appointment of a new Managing Director.

The Board also assured customers, employees, regulators, shareholders and other stakeholders that GTBank Kenya’s operations will remain stable and uninterrupted throughout the transition period.

It reaffirmed the bank’s commitment, saying GTBank Kenya’s operations remain stable and uninterrupted and that the bank remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering exceptional banking services and creating sustainable value for all stakeholders.
