Gachagua Hails DCP Performance in Magarini as Ruto Congratulates Winners

Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has congratulated the party’s Magarini candidate, Hon. Stanley Karissa Kenga, for what he termed a strong performance in the just-concluded by-election despite the party being new in the Coast region. In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Gachagua said, “For a new party — DCP PARTY — with no previous inroads in the Coast Region, a credible second is more than acceptable.”

Gachagua said the performance gives the party an entry point into the Coast political landscape, adding that he would use the December holiday period to strengthen the party’s presence in the region. “This now gives an entry into the Coast Region. I will be in the Coast over the holiday season to meet possible aspirants and establish party offices,” he said, while also praising Kenga for his effort, stating, “Well done Stanley. We are proud of you.”

Meanwhile, President William Ruto also took to his social media platforms to congratulate the winners of the by-elections held in different constituencies across the country. The Head of State listed David Ndakwa (Malava), Leonard Wamuthende (Mbeere North), Ahmed Hassan (Banisa), Vincent Chemitei (Baringo), Moses Omondi (Ugunja), Harrison Kombe (Magarini), and Boyd Were (Kasipul) as the winners of the contests.

In his message, President Ruto said the outcome reflected national unity and democratic choice. “Congratulations… for your deserved win! Your victory is a powerful reminder to us that we are bigger and better as a country when we are united,” he stated.

The dual statements from the President and the former Deputy President come as political parties continue to interpret the by-election outcomes and position themselves ahead of future electoral contests, with emerging parties such as DCP seeking to expand their footprint beyond their traditional strongholds.
