Former president Uhuru Kenyatta has hit back at President William Ruto’s Kazi Mtaani comments.
There seems to be a growing feud between the former president, Uhuru Kenyatta, and the current president, William Ruto, in recent weeks, despite them meeting at some point last year. Earlier this month, Uhuru called on Gen Z to fight for their rights and not be silent. Ruto hit back immediately and warned Uhuru against inciting the youth of the country. Earlier this week, Ruto said he wants to create real jobs through housing projects unless Kazi Mtaani, which was brought for political reasons.
Uhuru Kenyatta has now hit back at William Ruto as he insisted that the program was intended to put money in people’s pockets, especially after a tough covid-19 period. “Kazi mtaani was intended to put money in people’s pockets in order for them to sustain themselves. Unlike what some people tried to indicate that this was a political agenda, it was totally aimed at ensuring that these Kenyans who were unable to go to their places of work would have the opportunity to earn a living.” He said.
Ruto is facing a very tough time in office as he is facing rejection and criticism from all over the country as his administration is accused of leading the country in the wrong direction.
