Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna has questioned the IEBC selection panel.
The IEBC is conducting interviews for the chairman position in an effort to replace the late Wafula Chebukati. On Tuesday, some selected candidates, which included Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, Jacob Ngwele Muvengei, and Joy Brenda Masinde-Mdivo, were interviewed. This comes even when some Kenyans expressed concerns through social media and accused William Ruto of trying to manipulate the exercise.
Edwin Sifuna took to the social media account of X to express concerns over the process. “I’m not sure what this IEBC selection panel is looking for in these applicants. The members have long, windy questions that don’t seem to be helping to bring out the unique attributes of the candidates that qualify them for the job,” Sifuna tweeted.
Some users also accused Sifuna of being a hypocrite, especially having led the memorandum of understanding between Ruto and Raila. Earlier this week, ODM leader Raila Odinga insisted he is not in government despite the agreement.
