EACC to Auction Former Migori Governor Obado’s Multi-Million Properties

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has announced plans to auction high-value properties linked to former Migori Governor Okoth Obado in Nairobi, Kisumu and Migori counties. The move is part of efforts to recover assets believed to have been acquired through corruption.

EACC has appointed Galaxy Auctioneers, Keysian Auctioneers and Astorion Auctioneers to oversee the disposal of the properties. The auctions will take place in October, with bidders required to place a refundable deposit of KSh500,000 via banker’s cheque to secure a bidding number. Successful buyers must pay 10 percent of the purchase price on auction day and settle the balance within 60 days.

The first auction will be conducted by Galaxy Auctioneers on October 9, 2025, at the Pangani Auction Centre in Nairobi. The properties on offer include a three-bedroom apartment in Riara registered under Caroline Adhiambo Obwa, 2-two-bedroom units and a maisonette in the Savannah area under Jared Peter Oluoch Kwaga. A luxury townhouse in Loresho Ridge Estate, also under Obwa’s name, has been listed.

On October 16, 2025, Keysian Auctioneers will auction a four-storey block of rental flats in Kisumu, jointly registered to Obwa and Lorenzo Oluoch Ochieng, minors.

The same day in Migori, Astorion Auctioneers will auction several prime assets, including a commercial property on the Migori–Kisii road, a nearly complete 10-unit apartment complex and a residential and rental development with multiple houses. Additional assets include two blocks of one-bedroom rental units owned by Joram Opala Otino.

The auctions mark one of the most high-profile asset recoveries in recent years, highlighting EACC’s push to tighten accountability in county governance.
