DCI Volleyball Coach Daniel Bor Collapses, Tragically Passes Away

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer and esteemed volleyball coach, Daniel Bor, collapsed and tragically lost his life during a routine training session on Saturday evening.

Daniel Bor, known for his dual roles as a dedicated law enforcement officer and a mentor to the DCI volleyball team, was participating in a training session alongside fellow officers at the Magadi General Service Unit’s National Police College – Magadi Field Campus. Witnesses reported that Bor suddenly fell ill during the training, prompting swift action to transport him to a nearby dispensary within the camp for urgent medical attention. Despite efforts to save him, Bor’s condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his transfer to Magadi Tata Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed.

Preliminary medical reports suggest that Bor may have suffered a heart stroke, although the exact cause of death remains to be determined pending further investigation. His sudden passing has sent shockwaves through both the law enforcement and volleyball communities, leaving his colleagues and players in disbelief and mourning.

Charles Nyaberi, President of the Kenya Volleyball Federation, expressed profound condolences on behalf of the federation, acknowledging Bor’s invaluable contributions both on and off the court. Bor’s body has been transferred to Kenyatta University Hospital, where a thorough autopsy will be conducted to shed light on the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.

Bor’s tragic passing comes at a time of heightened sorrow within the law enforcement community, as the nation mourns the loss of several officers who have perished in the line of duty. Just weeks ago, on March 25, another officer was swept away by floods while bravely rescuing individuals in Nairobi City Centre. Prior to that, on February 27, a DCI officer fell victim to a fatal stabbing in Kisumu, allegedly at the hands of a suspected gang. These incidents serve as stark reminders of the dangers faced by those who dedicate their lives to upholding the law and serving their communities.

Daniel Bor’s legacy as a devoted officer and inspirational coach will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As his colleagues and loved ones grapple with the profound loss, they find solace in honoring his memory and celebrating the indelible impact he made during his time among them.
