Pastors Ezekiel Odero and Paul Mackenzie’s TV stations have been suspended by Kenya’s Communications Authority.
Televangelists Ezekiel and Mackenzie are connected to the World Evangelism TV and Times TV, respectively. The two televangelists are being investigated for allegedly encouraging followers in Shakahola, Kilifi County, to starve to death. Ezra Chiloba, the director general of the CA, stated in a statement that the violations of the TV stations’ licensing terms and broadcasting standards criteria had been proven.
According to Chiloba, the suspension followed a thorough examination of the two stations’ programming from January through April of 2023. He claimed that in addition to 12 other infractions, it was discovered that World Evangelism TV had broadcast offensive material on exorcism during the watershed period.
Similar to this, Times TV disregarded 17 other requirements of its broadcasting license while airing offensive material on exorcism.
Chiloba further ordered Pan African Network Group (PANG) Limited, the distributor of broadcast signals, to stop airing the two stations on its platform until further notice.
