CA Reports Airtel Kenya Quickly Gains Ground

The most recent report by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has revealed that Airtel Kenya is making a positive growth in telecommunications’ GSM Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMS) network and Airtel Money market share.

The report also shows Airtel Kenya has gained ground in terms of SIM subscriptions, with 21,517,842 subscribers of the total number of SIM subscriptions in the country is 71,375,093. According to CA, this refeocts a penetration rate of 138.5 per cent, translating to a market share of 30.15 per cent.

During the third quarter of 2024 between July and September, Airtel experienced a growth in the number of subscribers by 777,284 which is 3.75 per cent to 20,740,558 subscribers.

This increment not only revealed in Airtel’s SIM subscriptions but also on mobile money customers. As per the report, of the 42,302,833 subscribers gotten between October and December 2024 on money transfer, Airtel Money acquired a market share of 8.9 per cent, translating to 3,764,952 customers.

This has been made a success by Airtel’s increased efforts to gain trust from Kenyans in terms of services delivery which has continuously positioned the Telco as an innovative, purpose-driven company offering value for money voice, data, home broadband, enterprise, and Mobile Money solutions.

The company has been on an aggressive network expansion, rolling out almost 1000 network sites last year, the largest ever network rollout in the history of the company’s operations in the country.

At the moment Airtel now boasts of its network reach and also enhanced indoor coverage in major towns and cities across the country.
