Bahati Ditches Azimio For UDA

Musician Kelvin Kioko Bahati best known as Bahati Kenya has officially ditched the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition and joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Bahati was eyeing Mathare constituency seat in the August 2022 polls with a Jubilee ticket but lost to ODM’s Anthony Oluoch.

The musician said that Azimio was not condusive for him as he cried several times while in the coalition, a move that forced him to look for another party that will pay attention to him.

He was received at the UDA headquarters by party secretary general Cleophas Malala in company of wife Diana Marua, comedian MC Jessy, Roy Smith Mwatia (Rufftone), KRG The Don, and David Kilonzo, well known as DK Kwenye Beat.

“Mtu asiwahi sema mimi nilikua wa Azimio, mimi ni mtu UDA damu. Kwa mara ya kwanza, mimi najua UDA italeta mbunge kutoka Mathare.” He said.

During the last elections Bahati was confronted by Azimio top officials to step down and rally behind the ODM candidate in the spirit of zonings that was meant to ensure the coalition win more seats. He refused causing more wrangles. Bahati was also seen at some point walking out on the opposition boss Raila Odinga when he couldn’t take the compelling no more.

Bahati expressed his confidence with his current party saying that he was happy he has joined President William Ruto’s party which he knows is more considerate to the youth.
