Award-Winning Film ‘Medicine Man’ To Screen At The 5th #WeWatchKenyan Party

Multiple Award-winning film ‘Medicine Man’ is set to Screen, and be Discussed, at the 5th monthly #WeWatchKenyan Party, on Thursday 17th November 2022, at iHub Nairobi (6.00 pm-10.00 pm), and simulcast on ZOOM (7.00 pm –9.30 pm) to all 195 Countries & Territories worldwide.


Medicine Man just won Best Film, Best Scriptwriter, Best Actor and Best Actress (from 13 Nominations!) at Lake International Pan-African Film Festival (LIPFF) 2022 last weekend in Nakuru.


Set in Embu, and Shot in the Kiembu vernacular, a Daughter of the County and its Executive Producer – Betty Kathungu-Furet, says: “We’re so thrilled to have received 13 Nominations at LIPFF 2022, and to have won 4! What’s more thrilling, however, is that our peers at the Festival loved the Film!! We’re now looking forward to Screening it in Nairobi, en route to Nigeria.”

Medicine Man, as well as Bangarang, has been selected for the 5th Kano Indigenous Languages of Africa Film Market and Festival (KILAF), from 22nd to 27th of November 2022, in the ancient Nigerian city of Kano.


The story of how a lone Doctor (Pish Kago) overcomes the odds to Redeem the Embu community he so Loves – but a Community that is deeply shackled by Witchcraft, and enslaved by the ‘Power’ of a Warlock (Sam Ukavi), Medicine Man is a 120-minute thrilling Drama.


The MyMovies.AfricaTM Watch Party also features a very Audience-interactive Conversation with Award-winning Betty Kathungu-Furet (Producer), Edijoe Mwaniki (Writer & Producer), Simiyu Barasa (Director), Pish Kago (Actor) and Sammy Ukavi (Actor).

Supporting #WeWatchKenyan, the monthly MyMovies.AfricaTM Watch Parties at iHub Nairobi is aimed at promoting local Film and Content, as well as building a Community of Kenyan Creatives who actually watch Kenyan Content!


Launched in July 2022, the Event has Screened and Discussed two Films from Students of Kenyatta University – Why U Hate in July and Broken Mirror in September, as well as Celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Nairobi Half-Life in August.

On Mashujaa Day Eve in October, the courageous and Internationally-acclaimed Bangarang was Screened and Discussed.

MyMovies.AfricaTM Watch Parties are also Supported by iHub, Kenya Film Commission, Kenyan Originals, Imakks Mtaani, Milya’s Popcorn, DJ SMS, BeeTeez Bistro and EnM Group.
