According to an official, Nigeria’s customs service intercepted 7,000 donkey penises en route to Hong Kong at an airport in the commercial center of Lagos.
According to Sambo Dangaladima, the customs controller at Murtala Muhammed airport, the animal parts were packed in 16 sacks discovered in the animal export section.
The smell from the sacks, he said, made the authorities suspicious.
The shipment is valued at 200 million Naira ($478,000; £416,000).
A suspect connected to the package is said to have gotten away.
Donkey parts are in high demand in China, where they are used in traditional medicine.
Donkey parts are illegal to export in Nigeria.
