Mwangi was on Sunday, arrested and taken to Kamukunji Police Station following his remarks regarding a plan to infiltrate the Standard Chartered Marathon. His remarks were termed as inciting leading for his arrest.

“According to the Occurrence Book, he faces accusations of inciting violence for simply expressing his views on social media, stating ‘Ruto must go!’ in a country where free speech should be protected.” He stated via his X-account.

According to Omtatah who expressed his displeasure with how the state handled Mwangi, such arrests are “troubling situation for our democracy” adding that Kenyans must raise their voices in solidarity to demand for democracy from the government.
