A primary school teacher has died while 8 pupils get injured in a fatal road accident involving a head-on collision between two buses on Wednesday morning, April 5 on Kagio-Baricho Road in Ndia, Kirinyaga County.
The buses which belong to Kutus Municipality Primary School in Mwea and Trinity Academy in Kagio were left with shattered windows and extremely damaged front areas.
Police said they have already started probing into the matter. The injured learners were rushed to a nearby hospital while the deceased was taken to the morgue.
Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen two days ago announced measures to contain road accidents in the country after cases of accidents by road got wild recently.
“All vehicles will be inspected and each motorist will be issued with an inspection certificate to confirm that one has been servicing the vehicle, have good brakes, and so forth,” Murkomen announced.
However, the most recent data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revealed that 1,072 fatalities have been reported between January and March 2023.
