Sen. Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi has commented on Sen. Boni Khalwale of Kakamega’s disagreement with President William Ruto on proposals to sell state-owned businesses.
Sifuna claimed there is truth that they all see despite their political differences in a tweet on Sunday, April 2.
Senator Khalwale is now a free man, the ODM Secretary General continued.
Despite our political differences, we can all agree on one objective truth. Every single one of us knows the truth on every single subject. Omwami Boni Khalwale has chosen, at least in regards to the Privatization Bill, to proclaim the Truth as well as to know it. He tweeted that he was now free.
On Saturday, Khalwale voiced his opposition to the enterprises Mumias and Nzoia Sugar being privatized. Speaking in Malava, Khalwale pleaded with the government not to slack up on the sugar firms, pointing out that they represent the Luhya people’s very souls.
He said that the neighborhood provided property for the two businesses’ building.
‘Mimi kama Kiongozi wa jamii ya waluhya. Mumias Sugar Company has 12,500 hectares under cultivation, and Nzoia Sugar Company has 24,500 hectares under cultivation. Privatization will result in someone stealing our ancestral land. Inga mkono sisi hatuezi. We are unable,” he replied.
He continued by pleading with President Ruto to address the issues affecting the sugar mills rather than privatizing them.
“This is not being done with contempt for the administration or the president. That is what little there is in the sugar industry’s economics, he said.
The Cabinet approved the Privatization Bill last month, which calls for the privatization of all State Organizations that are not for profit.
