DP Gachagua Requests That Raila End The Demonstrations

Azimio la Umoja has been advised by vice president Rigathi Gachagua to think about suspending protests against the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking on March 20 in Mombasa County, Gachagua asserted that the protests would destroy the nation’s slowly rebuilding economy.

“What they are doing is wrecking our economy, therefore we want to implore them to stop the mayhem and disruption this afternoon.

The actions that occurred today are not helpful for the progress, he said. “We were getting a lot of affirmation from international financial players and all other partners,” he said. The DP asserted that the Azimio protests cost the Kwanza government of Kenya Ksh2 billion because store owners shut their doors in response to prior statements made by Azimio protestors.

Given what happened in Kisumu, where the Azimio people robbed tents, chairs, and food, quite a few business owners in Nairobi’s CBD chose not to open their stores and companies out of fear of theft and property destruction. The country has lost close to two billion shillings in terms of businesses as a result of the Azimio people’s threats to loot business owners’ properties, he claimed.

After that, he declared that Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome had been given the go-ahead by President William Ruto to return the CBD to normal.

Gachagua stated, “We are glad that President William Ruto is in charge and has made sure that no lives have been lost and no property has been destroyed.

Gachagua continued his request that Azimio principals ask their students to lead a mass movement rather than relying on others to serve their own agendas.
