When over 100 Kamba chiefs swore their loyalty to President William Ruto, Kenya’s political landscape is undergoing some new changes. The aim of Azimio Leader Raila Odinga to depose Ruto through popular uprising has been severely harmed by this action.
The leaders, who included ex-Parliamentarians and County Assembly members from various political parties, charged Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka with taking them into political consideration because of his closeness with Raila. They stated that they wanted to assist the government and that they were sick of being in the opposition.
In their statement, the leaders asked Raila to accept Ruto as the legitimately elected President of Kenya rather than support his calls for protests against the administration. They also said that they are leaving the Wiper party’s shackles behind since they believe it wants Kambas to live in abject poverty.
Many people were surprised by the Kamba leaders’ action, especially Kalonzo Musyoka, who has sworn to support Raila no matter what. It is unclear how this action will affect Raila’s Azimio movement and his efforts to unseat Ruto.
