Queen Elizabeth II Dies At The Age Of 96

The World’s longest reigning monarch in the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II was announced dead today by Buckingham Palace at Balmoral after serving for 70 years.

In a statement the Palace wrote, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

She appointed a new prime minister, the 15th of her reign two days ago hence performed her final constitutional duty before her health deteriorated. With her death, the eldest son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, will lead the country in 12 days of mourning as the new King, head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms and sovereign heir of other assets such as land and property. He will also be known as King Charles III and the Britain’s new monarch.

The World has reacted to the news, paying his tribute to the monarch lead by his son King Charles. “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.” He mourned.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, “She seemed so timeless and so wonderful that I am afraid we had come to believe, like children, that she would just go on and on. Wave after wave of grief is rolling across the world, from Balmoral — where our thoughts are with all the Royal Family — and breaking far beyond this country and throughout that great Commonwealth of nations that she so cherished and which cherished her in return.”

“She was a steadying presence and a source of comfort and pride for generations of Britons. Her legacy will loom large in the pages of British history, and in the story of our world.” President Biden wrote.
