Charlene Ruto Weds Tanzanian Businessman Isaya Yunge in Mwanza

First Daughter Charlene Ruto married Tanzanian tech entrepreneur and businessman Isaya Yunge in a waterfront wedding ceremony held at the Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, Tanzania, on Friday, November 6.

Charlene was escorted down the aisle along the shores of Lake Victoria by her parents, Kenyan President William Ruto and First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto. The bride wore a floral-embellished gown featuring a cathedral-length veil, while Yunge wore a formal black suit.

High-Profile Attendance and Cultural Celebrations

The nuptials brought together family members, friends, and senior political figures from both Kenya and Tanzania. The Kenyan delegation included Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, and other close government associates who traveled to Mwanza on Thursday ahead of the main event.

The ceremony concluded a series of pre-wedding events that began earlier in the week, including a bridal shower in Nairobi on November 3 and a traditional Mother’s Blessing prayer service hosted by First Lady Rachel Ruto on November 4. Upon arriving in Tanzania, Charlene received a traditional cultural welcome featuring local dance troupes and ceremonial receptions.

Following Kalenjin custom—where the groom’s family hosts the white wedding following the bride’s traditional engagement—the event followed the couple’s traditional Koito ceremony held on August 8, 2026, at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.

Yunge, the founder of SomaApps Technologies, and Charlene formalized their vows surrounded by invited guests, marking one of the year’s prominent cross-border nuptials.
