The National Assembly Chief Whip, Junet, has dropped another bombshell, indicating that some brokers within the party have started negotiations to sell the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to bidders.
While speaking in Suna East yesterday, Junet revealed that certain noisemakers within the party are keen on taking ODM to the United Opposition through Uhuru Kenyatta. He claimed that these brokers have already received a KSh 1 billion bid from Uhuru Kenyatta to move the ODM party and its supporters to the opposition.
Junet hinted that one of the brokers met him at the Royal Swiss Hotel in Kisumu and attempted to convince him to leave the broad-based government and pledge allegiance to the United Opposition party, which comprises Rigathi Gachagua, Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Eugene Wamalwa.
“I met one of the brokers in Kisumu, and he suggested that there was no need to support Ruto under the broad-based government. He said that Uhuru Kenyatta has already placed a KSh 1 billion bid for us to exit the broad-based government, claiming that this is the only way out because the President has failed to deliver on the 10-point agenda agreed upon during the handshake between President William Ruto and the late Raila Odinga,” Junet added.
Despite these claims, Junet said he refused to be persuaded to join the opposition, noting that Raila Odinga left them in the broad-based government.
Junet, however, did not disclose the identities of the politicians allegedly brokering the deal with Uhuru Kenyatta but stated that they will fight to ensure the party remains in the broad-based government.
