President William Ruto has led Kenyans into mourning the demise of Ex-IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati. Sending his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the late Chebukati, the Head of State stated that he received the news of Chebukati’s death with great sorrow.
“I have received the news of the passing of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati with profound sorrow,” read in part of President Ruto’s statement.

He described Chebukati as a leader who stuck to his principles, serving Kenya with diligence and high level of integrity. Moreover, Ruto termed the former IEBC chair’s death as a great loss to Kenya.
“His death is a great los to our country…Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.” He added.
President Ruto’s condolence message has come, hours after the news about the death of Chebukati broke the socials, leaving the country in sorrowful moods. Leaders and Kenyans have joined the force to mourn Chebukati, who retired from office chairing the election panel who led the 2017 and 2022 electoral commission.
