President William Ruto led the nation in celebrating Jamhuri Day at Uhuru Gardens to mark the 61st edition.
Ruto addressed the crowd and highlighted the government’s dedication in transforming the country through his bottom-up agenda. He also added that he is open to criticism from Kenyans on all social media platforms as long as it is based on facts. Ruto last week told Kenyans that he had submitted a bid to host the Grammys.
The former deputy president also added the government had created more jobs since he took over in 2022. “Since 2022, 243,000 Kenyans have secured international jobs. In the last two months alone, 12,000 Kenyans have secured the jobs.Work is underway nationwide, creating opportunities, especially for the youth. The affordable housing pillar of our Bottom-Up Agenda has already generated 200,000 jobs and thousands of indirect opportunities in the construction sector.” He said.
He also continued to say that his bottom agenda had prioritised using digital platforms to create jobs. “The Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda prioritises digital growth by connecting 74,000 public institutions and establishing 25,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots. Digital transformation is key to creating opportunities across all sectors.” He concluded.
